ABOUT GLOCCRIN

Global Citizenship & Children’s Rights Network (GLOCCRIN) was started in 2016 (formerly known as Global Citizenship and Diaspora Network (GLOCIDIN), to help provide a platform for sharing of ideas and research that enrich diverse traditions and cultures in global citizenship and children’s rights. This allows those interested in the field to come together to discuss and debate the historical narratives, the present ideologies and the emerging trends in global citizenship and the impact on children’s rights. It is intended that various analysis and research outputs will help advance theories in this field as well as mobilise solutions on various relevant policies and agendas.

Global citizenship is modelled on the notion that the world has increasingly become a complex web of connections and interdependence, implying that citizens’ actions in one part of the globe, such as wars and displacement of people, may have immediate effects on other communities, nationally and internationally. It is further noted that children often bear the brunt of both local and global decisions hence the interest to link global citizenship and children’s rights. The GLOCCRIN research network aims to broaden the knowledge base, particularly from the global south, which is often underrepresented or marginalised in both global citizenship and children's rights discourses and policy initiatives.

GLOCCRIN, therefore, provides a safe and supportive space and seeks to bring together early career researchers who are interested in these multi-disciplinary issues and to highlight members’ research work from other varied but relevant dimensions, sources, and backgrounds. If you would like to join the research network or contribute to our blog, you can do this by email contact or by completing the form below.
